Introduction

Many users also have iPods where they store their music so it would be very helpful to be able to use the iPod with SSL. This article describes how to use your iPod with SSL.

Important
Please keep in mind, iPods are not designed for permanent heavy disk usage. Unfortunately, SSL puts a lot of strain on your harddisk. Expect a reduced lifetime of your iPod.

Start

The audio files on your iPod wont automatically show up if you use SSL due to the fact that the audio files are stored in an iTunes specific database and (usually) cant be read from an external application, SSL can only use audio files which are accessible from a filesystem level.

  • Connect your iPod to your computer
  • Start iTunes
  • Go to preferences
  • Click on the iPod icon
  • Check enable disk usage
  • Now import your tracks into your SSL library with the help of the import function, or the filesystem explorer.
