Introduction
Since version 1.5 of SSL, you dont longer need any external software or hardware (soundcard) for recording your vinyls, this all can be done from the SSL software with the SL1 soundcard. This article describes how to do this.
Start
It is advised to have your turntable pitch at 0 to activate quartz lock before starting to record a track, especially on older turntables to minimize pitch variations.
- ATTENTION
- Even if you turn down the gains all the way down, you might see the red clipping LED light up, following is an explanation why this is happening:
- The problem is that the SL1 does not have an analog gain adjustment. So, whatever gain level you set from the software, it will only be applied *after* the signal passed the analog-digital converter. What does that mean? It means that if the analog signal was too hot, the signal will be clipped and there is nothing you can do about it from the software itself. That is why you will still see the clipping meter light up.
