This page shows how to add BPM tags using Mixmeister BPM Analyzer.

There are a few things to note before you start.

  • Mixmeister can only save BPMs for mp3 files, it will calculate them for Wavs but you will have to enter the BPM information into SSL yourself manually
  • Make sure your files are not readonly
  • Mixmeister will take around 15 seconds per track to calculate BPM files, Best not to do it at the last minute before a gig.

How To

Start by downloading the analyzer. Once downloaded, run the exe file and install the program.

BPM analyzer will have appear on your start menu in a folder called Mixmeister

Open the program, it is very simple and only has five buttons, Import, Export, Rescan, print, help.

Click import to load your mp3s into the folder, choose the folder at the root of your mp3s, or (if you've got lots of time on your hands) choose your whole harddrive.

Now leave the analyser to do its job. First off it will scan your mp3s to see if any already have BPMs in their ID3 tags, mp3s that already contain BPMs will not be rescanned. For each track you will see a % done figure counting up in the BPM column, once the BPM is displayed, the analyser has finished that track. Once all your tracks have BPMs displayed you are finished. Close mixmeister.

Now open SSL and on the setup screen click rescan ID3 tags. If you are running 1.5 or above, unplug your SL1/MP4/TTM57SL before you start and the tag scanner will be much quicker.
